Chris Rutherford

In May of 2021, my family's life changed forever. My husband, Chris Rutherford, was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. We would soon learn that this was a formidable cancer with no cure. We fought hard and stayed strong. Science was changing daily, so with each trip to Indy, we remained hopeful.

As time went on, so did the cancer, and we found ourselves facing Stage IV with no hope. My husband had always wanted to go to Washington, D.C., with my dad, a Vietnam veteran. Chris was proud to have served and had a deep love for history.

Just as I was losing hope that this trip would happen, CourtStrong stepped in. They provided the trip of a lifetime for my husband and father. There were a few other things we were struggling with, and Shon simply said, “What can I do to help?”

Unfortunately, my husband passed just a few days after the trip, but I know it meant the world to him. He was amazed that someone would do this for him. I will forever be grateful for CourtStrong and what they did for him in his final days.
